How should I optimize my listing?
When it comes to optimizing your listing, there are a few steps you can take to ensure you're getting the most out of your keywords and improving your search rankings.
Step 1: Analyze your Master Keyword List (MKL)
Take a look at your Master Keyword List and prioritize the keywords based on search volume. Make sure the highest search volume keywords are at the top of the list.
Step 2: Identify ranking gaps
Once you’ve sorted your MKL by Search Volume, look at the list of keywords for your product and identify any gaps in keyword ranking. In the screenshot below, you’ll see large indexing gaps shown in green. For these keywords, this seller is either ranked very low or not indexed at all. These large gaps will likely be the largest priority for this seller. Additionally, there are some smaller indexing gaps that are shown in yellow. For these keywords, this seller is indexed, however, the rank is much higher than we’d like to see it.
Step 3: Cross-reference with Listing Builder
Once you've identified your gaps in keyword ranking, it's time to check your listing builder and see if those keywords are already being utilized and in the ideal match type. If you navigate to the Root Usage & Hits tab and input your current title, you’ll be able to see which keyword roots are being used in your title and in which match type.
- If the keyword is already in your title, but not in the exact form, try rewriting that root into the title as an exact match of the root.
- If the keyword is already in your title in the exact form, you can keep it or choose to remove it and focus on another ranking gap. You can also try applying additional PPC pressure to the keyword root you’re trying to improve your ranking for.
- If you have keywords in your title that are not relevant to your product or are not helping from a ranking perspective, consider removing those keywords to make space for other keywords or roots.
