Overview
Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) is Amazon’s platform for publishing and selling books, including Kindle eBooks and print-on-demand formats.
At this time, Data Dive does not support KDP listings or data.
Why KDP is not supported
KDP operates differently from the Amazon seller ecosystem that Data Dive is built for. Data Dive is designed around Amazon Seller Central, KDP runs on a separate platform with different data structures, reporting, and account access. There is no direct integration between the two.
Limited and unreliable data access
KDP does not provide the level of data access required for accurate analysis:
- No consistent keyword data
- No reliable sales or demand signals
- No stable external data layer
This makes it difficult to generate accurate insights.
Different ranking and revenue logic
KDP listings behave differently from standard products:
- Ranking is influenced more by categories, reviews, and external traffic
- Revenue can depend on pages read (not just purchases)
- Promotions and free downloads can distort performance signals
These factors make keyword tracking and revenue estimation unreliable.
Incompatible product structure
Books often exist in multiple formats (Kindle, paperback, hardcover), with shared or split rankings and reviews.
This does not align with the standard product model used for analysis in Data Dive.
Are any books supported?
Some books may work in Data Dive if they behave like standard Amazon products.
This typically includes:
- Books sold through the regular Amazon catalog
- Listings that function like typical ASINs in search and ranking
- Products that follow standard marketplace data patterns
However:
- Most Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) listings do not follow this structure
- Data for these listings may be incomplete or inconsistent
- Support is not guaranteed, even if a book appears to work
Will KDP be supported?
There are no current plans to support KDP.
Support would require more consistent data access and alignment with standard Amazon product behavior.
Summary
KDP is a separate Amazon ecosystem with different data, ranking, and revenue models.
Because of this, Data Dive’s core features cannot be applied reliably to KDP listings at this time
