Product Research Pipeline Walkthrough
All your research sheets are automatically nested into 1 pipeline sheet.
If you're an InnerCircle member, this is based off the fundamentals Brandon displays in this video Watch Here (note: not available for public view sorry)
You can access this sheet in multiple ways;
- Via Chrome Extension
- Via Research Sheet Info Tab
- Via searching your google sheets library
What Triggers Saving Sheet?
You will find multiple results for the same Amazon keyword multi-ASIN search. The first time a sheet is produced from the chrome extension you will have your first 'master sheet'.
Then you will find multiple copies of the sheet due to filtering changes you made to your sheet, so you can review the changes you have made and how they affect your overall profitability chart (pipeline).
Any unwanted excess sheets just delete the rows in your pipeline.
The user is required to pay attention to the blue cells. Some of these are populated for you by calculating the medium's of the Yellow Sellers
Throughout the sheet, you can review each formula by double-clicking on the cell, and then click on each added metric and the figure will appear.
Initial Order Investment includes;
- Factory cost,
- Landed cost
- Other expenses per piece (which is default to $0) which you can enter in outside cost not factored in.
- 1st order Marketing, and 1st order PPC
- 1st order MOQ, depending on what freight option you choose x the medium-qty-units-sold-p/mth of the yellow sellers
Initial Order Revenue v Order Profit/Loss
- Initial order revenue does not factor in your Amazon expenses
- However the 'Initial Order profit/loss' does factors in your Amazon expenses and may represent negatives depending on your first order costs (incl marketing)
Annualized ROI
- Calculates the Order Qty ROI x turns per year. Depending on freight choice, determines how many times you turn your order over per year to produce Annualized ROI. Your ROI per pc is displayed at end columns of sheet
Annualized Profit
- Relates to subsequent orders, ignoring the first order because first order your investing more in giveways and launch ppc
My Product
- Cells are all blue, this indicates user input required. We take the medium values of all the yellow sellers
- Factory Cost by default is 20% and a guide only
- Package Dimensions/Weight are taken from the medium values of the yellow sellers
- Days per Turn, refers to logistics section 'Any Order'. By default freight is 'Ocean Not Container' LCL. User required to change this setting to review different freight options
- Duty Rate is default to an average 6.5%, user is required to source a more accurate duty rate from Freight Forwarder
- Other Expenses, eg-you may want to spread out your investment of molds or patents and attribute some cost per piece.
Amazon Costs
- FBA Fee is currently a static field, using the medium 'My Product' fields and populating this FBA fee
- It you refine your packaging size, click on the link to the FBA Fee Calculator to review the new sizes you've chosen.
- The FBA fee calculator is very useful at this point to study opportunity or risks in the size/weight of your research product. Lots of gains AND losses are made here.
- Storage Calculator has the option to review storage fee cost for Q4 and non Q4
- Currently software does not support dangerous goods $/pc fba storage fee and requires user input if needed
1st Order
- Inidicates your total 1st order Marketing Investment for giveaways and PPC, in line with current InnerCircle strategy
Subsq. Orders
- After first order your PPC should be lower. The aim is 10% which is default, but you can change this for your own forecasting
Any Order
- Target Sales / Day is bringing thru the medium units sold of the yellows
- Ship by, view second tab there is a Criteria configuration table. We will maintain current averages for shipping cost but you can edit this to suit your current cost.
- Ship by Criteria tab you factory may be offering you different lead times as well, edit these to suit
- Criteria Tab - you can add more fields up to 6
- Inventory Level in weeks we default to 9 weeks. Depending on your choice of Shipment your MOQ will differ. eg Air MOQ will be less as you can restock quicker.
Freight & Customs Costs
- FBA has limitations which is in critera tab.
- Max pcs/carton is calculating
- Hypotheticals - is producing by figures in sheet the optimal carton sizes and fits inside FBA restrictions.
- All these assumuptions for factory cost, freight cost + Duty produce a landed cost in column BQ
Margins After 1st Order
- Profit per piece is also represented as Net margin against your target price
- ROI % is looking at the profit compared to the landed cost (invested cost)
- Annulized ROI $ and %, represents the profit per piece vs how many times you turn over MOQ's per year
- Break Even is sell price with $0 profit
