How to Use Outlier Keywords?
Outlier keywords are keywords with high search volume but low relevance. Data Dive determines relevance by calculating the percentage of competitors ranking on page one or in the top 45 positions for a particular keyword.
If the relevancy is low, it means only one or two competitors are utilizing or ranking for those keywords.
Step 1: Navigate to Outlier Keywords Tab.
Step 2: Define your Outlier SV and Max Relevancy parameters. If you want more keywords, you can reduce the number in Minimum SV.
By default, the minimum search volume is set to 2,000. Lowering it will generate more outlier keywords.
Step 3: Review the list of keywords to identify any that you should add back to your master keyword list.
- If you are already ranking well, consider exploring more general or less relevant keywords to improve organic rankings.
- If not, prioritize solidifying and establishing your ranks for these major keyword gaps before going into outlier keywords.
Step 4: Select the checkbox for the outlier keywords that you believe are relevant to your product and capable of driving sales then click "Include the selected keyword in the MKL".
Step 5: Check the Master Keyword List to view the newly added Outlier Keywords, which will be marked as "OUTLIER" in the relevancy column.
Note: Prioritize primary keywords with high search volume and significant gaps first. Once you've addressed those gaps and solidified your base, you can now go over to outlier keywords, and start focusing on broader and more general terms.
